Pastor — Reverend R. Randy Day
Reverend R. Randy Day and his family joined the First Church family in June, 2008, moving into the parsonage next to the historic church. Preaching, teaching and being involved in the Greenwich community as well as the international community dominate his active agenda. He combines his love of pastoral duties—baptisms, weddings, ministering to families at times of crisis and death— along with his lifelong passion for mission. To learn more about Pastor Day, more >
Pastor Emeritus — Avery C. Manchester
Avery C. Manchester performed pastoral responsibilities at First Church of Round Hill from July of 1989 to July of 2001. Avery was designated Pastor Emeritus in 1999 and has been an ever present contributor to our activities and services. Avery is recognized for his ability to intertwine strong spiritual beliefs and intellectual curiosity. During his tenure, Avery and his lovely wife Pam resided in the Brown Kenworthy parsonage. In addition to his pastoral responsibilities, Avery is a practicing psychoanalyst with offices in Stamford and NYC. Avery is active in our community, recently delivering a Clinical Education program on Suicide and Depression at the Greenwich Hospital. Avery has four children: Timothy which works in Public Health and resides in Africa; Peter, a painter and artist, residing in Canada; Mary, a speech pathologist, residing in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Martha, working in hospital administration, Sebastopol, California.
Church Secretary — Annie Callahan
Annie Callahan became the church’s secretary in February of 2006. She is responsible for the maintenance of the church’s archives, production and distribution of the church’s monthly newsletter and publishes the weekly church bulletin. She can be contacted directly at the First Church offices via telephone or e-mail from 10 am until 2 pm, Monday – Friday. Annie lives in Darien with her husband, David, and their three dogs.
Financial Secretary — Sandra Regan
Sandra (Sandy) Regan has been Financial Secretary at First Church since 2003. In addition to First Church, Sandy works in a local family business as well as at Adopt-A-Dog Inc. Sandy and her husband, Bill were married in First Church in 1994, and worshipped here until they moved 9 years ago. Their 2 children, Shannon and Sean recently graduated from college and live and work in the Danbury area. Sandy and Bill live in Carmel, NY, with their dogs and horses.
Property Manager — Ernesto Damm
Ernesto Damm has been the Property Manager at First Church for 5 years. As property manager he maintains the grounds and buildings at 464 Round Hill Road. He also contributed to a myriad of the projects to improve the church campus over the years has made innumerous contributions toward the renovation of the church and the parsonage.
Director of Children's and Youth Ministry — Susanne Frank
Susanne Frank has been the Christian Education Director at First Church of Round Hill since June of 2004. She has been a pre-school teacher for 23 years, both in Germany and the United States. Susanne received her State Diploma as a licensed pre-school teacher in Germany. She is a licensed Rhythmic teacher and has been the Director of Kindergarten at the German School NY for 5 years. She currently teaches at Noroton Presbyterian Nursery School in Darien. Susanne loves to rock-climb, figure skate, ski and play the piano in her spare time.
Youth Group Director — Daisy Melo
Daisy Melo originates from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and has been our Youth Director for the past two years. She is a graduate of Kutztown University with a degree in Speech Communication. She has been involved with youth ministry since college. Daisy is active in multiple volunteer organizations such as Young Life andWyldlife. During her tenure at First Church, Daisy has introduced and provided oversight for innovative methods of introducing our youth to Christ and in living their youth ministry. She has incorporated the teachings of Rob Bell and has assisted in the renovation of the new youth room. Her objective as a youth minister is to show the youth that faith isn't boring but the most exciting thing happening in your life.
Music Director — Gwendolyn (Wendy) Hillman
Gwendolyn (Wendy) Hillman music director and organist, holds a bachelor of music degree from the New England Conservatory, a Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts from Stony Brook University. As a singer and pianist, she has performed both solo and chamber engagements throughout the United States and Asia. Operatic credits include Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Parasha in Stravinsky’s Mavra, Marguerite in Faust, and Fiordiligi in Così fan Tutte. She has appeared as a principal artist with the Sanibel Music Festival, Opera Theater of Connecticut, Ashlawn- Highland Festival, the Canterbury Chorale Society of New York and theWallingford Symphony. Recent concert appearances include Carmina Burana atWoolsey Hall, Handel's Messiah with the ECSU Concert Chorale, and Mozart's Vesperae solennes de Confessore with the Middletown Chorale.
Ms. Hillman has also been invited to premiere several new works, among them the title role in Sheila Silver’s opera, The Thief of Love recently released on DVD by Hummingbird Films. Opera News praised her performance,"Gwendolyn Hillman sings with warmth, strength and gracefulness. Hers is a voice that truly matters, and deserves international attention.” (March, 2007)
Ms. Hillman has won numerous awards and prizes including the Galli-Campi Coloratura Award, the Jensen Foundation Competition, and the Amici Vocal Competition. She was also a finalist in the Royal Opera House Covent Garden Vilar Young Artist Auditions in London. She is a music faculty member at the University of New Haven and Choate Rosemary Hall where she teaches music theory, music history and private voice.
